The game of Poker has taken the world by storm.   From the World Poker Tour on the Travel Channel to the World Series of Poker televised on ESPN, you continue to hear the name – Texas Hold’Em.   It is one of the most popular types of Poker being played today.   Seasoned poker players, as well as novices, all want to play Texas Hold’Em.

A former professional dealer from the Silver Star Hotel and Casino in Philadelphia, Mississippi, will conduct the gaming lessons.    The class is conducted at the table.   You should come dressed comfortably.    Come ready to learn and ready to have some fun!    The class is about learning rules, terminology, and strategy.    This will be an open game,  and sometimes we will turn our cards over so everybody can see just how and why a hand was played the way it was.

If you are going to take the class, it is a MUST that you know the rank of hands.   Knowing which five-card hand beats another five-card hand will get you ready to learn the game of Texas Hold'Em.

Continuing Education:
 

Learning to play winning Texas Hold’Em requires study and playing experience.   You will learn several strategies that will help you begin playing beyond the novice level.  Continued practice of the skills taught in this class will provide a base upon which you can build your knowledge of Poker.

Know When to Fold Them:
 

Most poker tables have ten seats, some have eight. No matter how many players start the game, more than 80% of the time the hand will come down to a heads up match between two players. Click here for some information on poker odds.

Here is some basic poker terminology. The terms are broken into two categories. First, there are general poker terms; these are terms that you will find in any game that uses the best five (5) card hand to determine a winner. Patience is a virtue.
You can never have too much common sense.
Don't get angry when you are outdrawn.
Know when to fold them.
You will see players who will call even though the call is a mathematical mistake; while they may or may not pay for it this hand, they will pay for it in the long run.
